Ok, so it seems there’s tons of confusion about the GAIA and what engine it is based off of. Some people that played one at MESSE seem to think it’s based off of the SH-32. Others that were there think it sounds much closer to their JP-8000s. Which is it?!? Sadly, I, like most of us, don’t know. And further still, we won’t until we get our hands on one and try it out for ourselves.
So in the mean time I thought I’d organize this little youtube shootout between the GAIA, Sh-201, Sh-32 and the JP-8000 and let you hear all of them next to each other.

The Roland GAIA SH-01 is an exciting update to the SH-201 that features 3 fully independent SH-201 style synths along with audio & MIDI over USB! New to the SH-01 is an expanded effects section in which you can create your own effects chains and you also now have the added ability to save your patches patches to a USB memory stick over the limited number of user slots on the SH-201. Expected retail is about 650$.
