Post about "GAIA"

Roland Gaia Sound Designer

GAIA Synthesizer Sound Designer is a specially designed PC/Mac software application for Roland’s award-winning GAIA SH-01 synthesizer. It inspires creativity by allowing GAIA users to conveniently explore every tone parameter on their large computer monitors. The software can also record and play back the entire sound-creation process, step by step, with its unique Action List function. Furthermore, the Wave Viewer function displays each waveform as a graph for visual reference. Beginners of synthesizer programming and pros alike will appreciate this powerful and inspiring application, as well as teachers of synthesizer programming.

* Control every GAIA SH-01 tone parameter via PC or Mac
* Action List lets you record and play back the entire
sound-creation process, step by step
* Wave Viewer display allows waveform shape to be viewed as a graph
* New GAIA SH-01 patches included, plus Action-List samples for
learning the fundamentals of synthesis

Hmm, no mention of a VST or AU.

Roland GAIA Sh-01 Shoot Out

Ok, so it seems there’s tons of confusion about the GAIA and what engine it is based off of. Some people that played one at MESSE seem to think it’s based off of the SH-32. Others that were there think it sounds much closer to their JP-8000s. Which is it?!? Sadly, I, like most of us, don’t know. And further still, we won’t until we get our hands on one and try it out for ourselves.

So in the mean time I thought I’d organize this little youtube shootout between the GAIA, Sh-201, Sh-32 and the JP-8000 and let you hear all of them next to each other.

Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below.

Messe 2010 – Roland Gaia SH-01

The Roland GAIA SH-01 is an exciting update to the SH-201 that features 3 fully independent SH-201 style synths along with audio & MIDI over USB! New to the SH-01 is an expanded effects section in which you can create your own effects chains and you also now have the added ability to save your patches patches to a USB memory stick over the limited number of user slots on the SH-201. Expected retail is about 650$.
