EMS type filter?

He's really nailed the sound on that one.

Yes! It's kick ass! I love it. That filter has been in his line up for a while, and I'm finally getting one soon.

Do you want to say a bit more about the other modules?

I could be well tempted by this.

Here is the second video in the series, this one is way different, and kinda silly :freak: :idk:

Also PC, I didn't forget about you! I'd be happy to talk more about the other modules. I have been having trouble posting text to this forum on my phone (lulz work fine thank goodness), so I just need to find some time while in the studio - and not playing with gear!

Do you have any specific questions? Theres are some general descriptions here: http://www.analoguehaven.com/stgsoundlabs/

I picked up a Doepfer VCO and their SEM filter. I never knew they made one until Moot Booxle mentioned it to me the other night. I found a used one right away. Otherwise this post probably belongs in Jam With Teh Tapes™. Enjoy!

the gong was pretty cool.. I love things that will also visualize what is being played.

You are way ahead of us in modular lol. After this windows 10 debacle, I think I'm giving up on software. I still think it's amazing, but it's kind of like you don't even own it and the PC developers and pulling MAC crap now too.. why do I have to keep buying stuff over and over?! It's a weird cycle to me.

I bought waves element and it won't run on Windows 10. I dunno.. I'm also a fan of owning what I pay for. Give me the key and let me archive the installer. I was about to buy space 19.99 on amazon Im' like no.. I want the DVDs. I don't own it if I can't download it.

Yes I've been getting really interested in modular lately. I'm not even sure why, because I'm totally fine with my monos and polys. I guess it's just fun to learn new things.

Purity has been into it for ever. Hey PC, what is your modular rig made up of these days? Post some pics.

And EP, do you want to sell the Hotblack Desiato system? What format is that thing?

The main reason for stuff breaking is hardware architecture changes, or breaking changes to the low level OS code and/or API. Microsoft's actually been (believe it or not) better than most at backward compatibility (they are the most business centric desktop OS and businesses hate change just as much, if not more, than users do) but sometimes things have to be broken, I imagine (like, to be simplistic, if a software instruction useful to a driver can also usefully be used for hacky hackies).

I'm not a fan of Windows 10 personally (it feels like a step backward in many areas), but I think one reason to avoid dongle-oriented software protection is exactly this. Dongles usually rely on drivers that are much closer to the low-level API than most code. So they are more sensitive to API changes. Hence they are more likely to crap out on something like an OS upgrade. Software in general is more fragile than hardware, why increase the fragility?
