No thread on this?

Hm.

Maybe you all haven't heard?

Roland has a boutique version of the D-50.

Do want?

(I do)

We discussed it in another thread, sort of.

I'll just say it's something you either want, or you just think as totally useless :)

I'd love to see how the interface works with it, if it's easy to program and all.

I wish I could say I played it and tell you what it's like but I didn't get a chance.

But if they were able to mimic the digital circuitry, I suspect it sounds right.

Personnally I think the draw was that keybed, but I'm wondering if I don't have a soft spot for those sounds if I hear them after all these years

If there is any software editor or not, will be of interest to me. If it works with midi quest or something? Is that still a thing?

I can always go for tube ohm vintage which nails the sound for much less and you can load your own samples too.. so there's that.

As people we're saying too, you can get a d110 rack for less than 100$. Cheap racks are my thing

Is programming a D110 your thing, though? :poke:

I used to have a D550. I gave up on programming anything on it after a couple of hours...

The PG-1000 is super helpful with the D-50/D-550.
I assume the Boutique is VST editable, which would be good.
Seq and arp sound good at first, until you realize they probably replicated the D-50's rather slow envelopes. :)

That's basically why I keep saying the d50 might have the best synth action if all time. (Sound wise that was crap though) :)

Not crap, man...dated maybe, but not crap. That's what 80s prog sounded like and I loved that sound back then. That's why I got the D-550 in the first place, but then I ended up never using it.

True. At the time, that was THE sound. I personally don't care to ever hear it again, though.

I lusted after a D-50 when they came out, but I recall it being something like $2500. In late-80's dollars. :freak:

The one thing I don't care to hear again is that piano sound where even the soft notes sound like the felt is punching the strings real hard. Now THAT truly annoys me. The D50 sounds, not so much.
