so i seen spectre (james bond) a couple days ago. it was ok but not as good as skyfall or casino royale

i read the reviews and it said it wasn't as good as mission impossible: rogue nation. so i watched that tonight and that was great, way better than spectre imho

the gf is into the british monarchy so we watched wolf hall and elizabeth: the golden age (the sequel to elizabeth that came out like 10 years later).

both were excellent as far as historical dramas go and since one is about henry the 8th and the other about his daughter elizabeth with anne boleyn so there was some continuity there

I knew the new Bond was out. Couldn't miss the ads everywhere

But yeah, a little time for movies wouldn't hurt. Though when we have time we spend it on doing cool stuff with the family. Like, I was away for a couple days because we were in North Georgia, staying in a tepee. Yes, an Indian tepee... but this one was pretty big, and had a heater and electricity in it  Still, it was a good experience to tell the kids, "this is how the Cherokees lived, except they didn't have this light, or this heater unit, or this bathroom up the hill, or the main house where we had breakfast..."

The place also has a 3-hour canopy tour, but it rained yesterday, so I didn't go. I think it would have been fun.

But now the winter is closing in on us, so I think some movies are going to be watched on the couch while sipping on hot cider. Oh yes. And I like Greg's GF recommendation, these days I get more of a kick out of historical dramas than I get out of the "CGI, explosions and fake big boobs" genre. Still, Mission Impossible is one of the series of movies I won't turn down, so I will try to catch up on that latest one.

No one will believe this, but last week I watched Godfather I & II. For the first time.

Also both of How to Train Your Dragons.

And Minions, that was good too.

Godfather, huh? Were you able to keep your eyes open?

I have never made it through any of those films without falling asleep multiple times.

So did anyone else see La La Land? I liked it. I hope they make moar of that sort of thing in the future.

And for a synth nerd there was some good spotting, such as a Kronus, a Roli Seaboard, some Red Ones (including a Space Vag), and even a Yamatar. There were more, but they went by too fast for me to ID them in the theater without pause & rewind.

I like the music too. I got the albumn.

Yup. Wife and I saw it in January. I thought is was OK, but my wife loved it. I noticed the Seaboard, too, it surprised me.

My wife cast the deciding vote when that particular movie was decided upon. I enjoyed it more than anticipated. She loved it until the <spoiler>. Then she felt violated, betrayed and I don't know what all.

She now bristles if I even whistle that one bit.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I have quite a few movie albums and singles in my HDD. I don't listen to them as often as regular music, but occasionally I'll click through some of them.

And if you think that's weird, I also have dozens of TV and cartoon theme songs. Aaand lots of TV & movie sound fx.

@plink i used to collect soundtracks on vinyl, cd, tape, etc especially of movies i really liked to sample them. i used to sample vhs, video games, just about anything back when i was using gold wave and jazz drives lol

the golden age of sampling with youtube and the availability of everything would have blown my 15 year old mind lol.
