So, apparently the module was leaked by Uli Behringer himself in that Gearslutz thread, and he said they might or might not go ahead with that design.

Apparently he has been posting there for the last year and a half and wrote an introduction post that I just found:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/10678223-post501.html

He built his first analog synthesizer at 16, and is a classically trained piano and jazz musician

Perhaps that was before he sold his soul? :D just kidding!

See also this: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/10679299-post542.html
The interesting part is that the synth we're seeing now, is part of the approach Uli was talking about back in December 2014 ... :smoke:

So............. apparently OSC2 doesn't feature a saw wave... just square. So it's really just a sub-oscillator, like in the original 106.

Still a great sounding synth, but they had a chance to create a Jup-8 killer here, I think, and didn't do it.

Oh and Uli posted that the price should be 999 dollars (MAP). So at some point in the next year they might be selling for 799 or even less...

So, pricing looks like $1000. That will make it popular. Synthtopia has a couple of non-teaser videos up as well.

Sorry CR, I didn't see your reference to price until it was too late

behringer shallow pockets

also the video tour of studio stekker was amazeballs

:thu:

*edit: here's a demo video playing sum patches

I think it sounds very good but I don't regret buying the jp-08 as its always been my dream synth and this one doesn't do osc cross mod or anything like that. still, its a really deep synth and looks really amazing

This is where they are probably saving a *few* pennies, yes -- no tempcomp, no 2nd real VCO so it's probably derived from the Osc1 square or something, etc. Still a potential Juno 106 killer, I guess, and those are popular enough synths.

I'll admit, I personally am playing "wait and see" mode because, for me, the A6 and P6 really cover a *lot* of ground in the "analog poly" department. Man cannot Synth on Analog Subtractive alone. But I'm sure the instrument will sell well. Behringer seems to be staking a ground somewhere between the DSI synths and the Minilogues of the world. Doesn't sound bad at the moment.

Thankfully, I don't think so. The caption in this vid says "DCO2: +/- 1 octave tuning".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nqiEj7StYI

also, variable detune in unison mode, and variable DCO drift, which goes a long way in 'warming up' a DCO synth. :thu:

btw, am I the only one who thinks these mfgrs purposefully limit the info about their new kit just to stir up moar buzz?

All those Deepmind videos are just musos saying "Wow", and "niiiice". Reminds me of TV news, where they find the dumbest gaptooth hick on the corner and let him sum up the story by saying "Goldang ah ain't NIVER seen nuthin lak 'iss here!"

And there you have it.

Lots to love. The bass boost is a nice addition, the filter sounds great, 3 envelopes & 2 LFOs with lots of options... the effects are top notch... mod matrix with tons of options... CV input is a bit unexpected... wi-fi enabled so you can control whatever you want from a tablet, where the app seems pretty nifty with a track pad kind of thingie as an option... it's quite deep indeed :) The arpeggiator seems quite interesting as well.

It's almost like a tribute to 80s synths...

o hai !

so arguably my fav english reviewer, nick at sonic state, got a hold of the dm12:

jump patch around 4 min mark

the more i learn about this synth the more i realize its build like a juno 106, which may be my fav synth ever. it was always so sweet even in bass tones and lush pads.

i'm heavily addicted to the dco sound in the PG-8X plug-in and think the dm12 will be great. i just have to try one in the store and see if the osc are just too limited for my typical usages.

:like:

here's devkid doing some audio rate lfo fm with the dco's:

i like

i was looking for the minerva mod but i found the juno 66, a never kit with more functionality:

the sound is so thick and vintage-y. i think it was diametro who said the juno 60 was very close to a jupiter tone wise, but he also said the jp-08 is too lol.

the problem with these newer synths is a lot of time they just don't have the character associated with the old boards.

since juno 60s are posted for like $2000 on evil bay i doubt i'll get the chance to mess with one so i'll just have to colour everything in the box

welp nick has posted an outstanding review once again

the fact that there's parameter slop and detune, which are likely modulation destinations is very promising. the effects seem pretty amazing too. the trick with short envelopes for fm was great and i like that its not just vanilla saw/square tones

this is a combination of behringer maturing and offering an interesting take on the juno concept. its significant that they're rising to the challenge of our current global economic conditions. plus a 12 voice detuned bass line... wow
