By the way, you got a wife and wonderful kids and a house and a job. So you spent some time by yourself on your b-day. First world problems.

Thanks CR - You are right, of course.

Thank you ALL for your wishes.

Very kind.

Ah. I didn't know your name before, after all these years.

Coming to think of it, I know Mike, Chris, Scott, Matt - but if I know anyone else's real name i don't remember it now. I really should know Plink's... probably just forgot it.

Hey BonsoWonderDoggie! R U still fruzengladjen?

I haz an OZ question for ya: I've heard that the kookaburra has been known to hang around the backyard while Ozies are grilling, and when you're not looking, swoop down upon the barbie and streak away with sizzling hot meaty bits in it's apparently impervious talons.

Iz this true? Sounds pretty badass for a bird, but they do sound deranged.

I was just thinking about where Bonzo might be.

Plink, I had a crow do that when I was grilling at a park a couple years ago. Not only did he do that, he landed with his feet on the hot grill. Those of us who saw it, couldn't believe it.

The old guy that used to live next door was stationed in India in the late 40s, he said they had kitehawks there that were similar and would steal food... apparently more often called shitehawks.

I'll put the common beach seagull up against any other scoundrelly pilferey type bird out there, including The Thieving Magpie. Gulls excel at all types of brazen snatchery.

Crows: An Indiana crow is a reasonably respectable critter except for his singing. The California crow, however, is a murderously thuggish bird. He'll swoop down and grab a smaller bird and gobble him up like a hawk. I seen it more than once. It never fails to startle me.

Just like I'm always startled the first time or two by those lane splitting motorcyclists who scream by my gridlocked car when I'm on the freeway out there.

Meanwhile, in Australia...

Much tougher to be a bird in Australia...

And this, of course, would also only happen in Australia.

Image

Of course, that is all irrelevant now that Bonso is in Norway...
