So I'm in the Indy GC yesterday to buy an Alesis RA-100, another cheap 61 key controller (so I can keep one at work), and an impulse buy (a used soft keyboard bag that like totally says "Roland JUNO", dude!), when I hear a sound coming from the keyboard room that stopped me in my tracks, beckoning through the haze of long ago, calling "hey, remember me?" I was almost certain, before I saw it, that it was a specimen of the first polysynth I ever owned. Someone had just brought it in & the sales guys were trying to figure out how to get it to change patches lol. I spent a very fun half hour with it. Those things just sound great to me. I loved the second oscillator, the joystick was joyous, the keybed was fast, the Korgish filters were just korgasmic...
But I was also reminded of the things that led to my disatisfaction and eventual disassociation: no knobs, no portamento, no midi, the steppish nature of some of the parameters ect.
So, even though this one was in vgc and everything worked well and they said they would price it at only $300, I sadly walked away.
Clavamanother: if you want this one, don't ask me to be the middleman, because if it comes home with me, I might not have the strength to part with it again. Just call them direct and don't tell me...
