I'll admit I haven't synthed in months. *shrug*

Wife and 3 kids, man. And a house. When I'm not a work there's always a list of things to do...

every man chooses how he will spend his time and focus his energy.

This.

I have a house, and chores, and a husband (who is basically like having 3 kids) AND I CHOOSE SYNTH. House needs paintin', grass needs mowin', where's Mike at? GONE SYNTHING.

It's all a matter of priorities. :thu:

I synth in small tiny little bursts. At this rate I'll probably have a nice complete few minute track in several months.

Pft. It takes me years. But I'm ok with that - I get stuck in a loop doing sound design, and honestly, I'd much rather be doing that than making actual tracks. The only problem is, there's really nowhere else to showcase said designed sounds, except in tracks. GAH.

Au contraire. Please do post up interesting synthy sounds, even if they're not part of some conventional track.

Thanks.

If you'd get satisfaction in sharing your created sounds with the music community, you can always post them here:
http://patcharena.com/free-sounds/

Many categories between hardware and software to upload. You have to create an account, but it's free and I never noticed receiving spam or anything from joining.
I created a large bank of patches for Steinberg's Model E back in the day, and I just visited the site after not visiting for years, and my bank had over 350 downloads, which makes me happpy people may be playing/enjoying them.. granted not a lot of Model E users left, but Steinberg recently made it freeware and I think it's still got good mojo after all these years.
It was one of the early VST software synthesizers created back when they were still relatively in infancy.

As non professional musicians, I subscribe to the forumula, family first and hobby second. :)

I just went out to lunch.. I posted some funnies.

I spent a long time synthing. I can choose to do without lol.

It's all how you balance your priorities and free time I guess.. for me, when I'm stressed, I need time to not think or worry about something and I prefer physical activity over sitting and trying to think about something.

So i spend a lot of time walking, watching TV, playing airsoft with my son and trying to keep him busy and off of the computer. I'll get there eventually..

I used to be bad at that too, but you gotta stay focused and being on the, or in the, computer makes it easier. You can just split off sounds that aren't working for later easily or different versions that don't work and keep moving. You can always come back to them later.

That's one thing I like about sampling, you just record what's interesting and go. You do have to kind of turn your mind off a bit and say hey, if I made something cool, I can do it again and not try to envision entire songs around one sound. Like I said, that's where saving comes in.

Hey @PlornkFloored, are you still using Sonar? I'm considering dumping it and moving to something like Cubase or maybe Live as a gateway back to synthland, especially seeing as how it got put out to pasture anway.
