Apparently not. Mine's an $80 Harbor Freight slide-o-matic with optional fold-up roller stand (very handy), adjustable yaw and roll, deluxe dust collector bag (it sux), super deluxe battery powered laser guidance gizmo (it sux too), a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time by the sun.

But it won't cut a 4" post all the way through.

-

I've nothing against Casio, especially for kids, but I've seen too many @ Goodwill for ten or twenty bux to consider paying retail.

That Rockwell is selling for 169 now at Lowe's and Amazon. Is it wrong that I might not consider it because there are more expensive things in the list? I still might get it anyway...

Goodwill - I have 3 nearby. One by my work and two that I drive in front of on the way home (I do drive 27 miles each way). I stop on average once a week. I never ever see any good keyboards. Coffee makers? Tons, but I won't buy a used one... though I did buy a small popcorn machine. And bicycles for the whole family. But music stuff and cast iron... never. And I used to be able to see some old photography equipment but I haven't seen anything interesting in two years. I think the people who live off Ebay sales of thrift store finds are too quick for me (I personally know two people who do that for a living...) I was probably able to find the bikes because they don't sell well on Ebay.

And this is my deep thought for the day:

I don't know what economic sense it makes to make half-baked delicious european bread in the Netherlands, then ship them to the US, and sell them at the Dollar store for 6 in a pack for a dollar. But I'm so glad they do it. It's just about the more delicious bread I can buy at any store.

The Dollar store is my go-to place for quite a few things I can't get anywhere else (much less for a dollar): really good ceylon tea, Egyptian jellies, Brazilian guava paste and rice.

Don't worry as much about he price/worth. It's all relative. If it isn't going to be of any use to you, it has less worth. Even if you decide to sell something, somebody is going to have to want it for it to have more value.

Regarding thrift stores, there are often insiders looking for things for people and grab them before it hits the floor.

I believe that is the case.

I probably wouldn't buy enough stuff to make it worth it for them. I'm sure they get paid something on a "reserved item" base.

I've found a few good deals on shopgoodwill.com. Sometimes they'll list large items (such as Casios, pianos & organs, whale skeletons ect) as 'pick up only'. My local pick-up point just happens to be a few blocks from work. But it looks like the only one in GA is in Macon. WTF Atlanta?
