lol, well i met this tranvestite princess leia at a fetish night once and actually thought he looked quite good, then the next time i came across him i said how good i thought it was and he got really embarrassed and said he just did normal crossdressing now and didn;t do the leia thing anymore lol

was thinking a tranny leia might be funny to drop into the thread only i couldn;t find a decent looking one... um, that and the pages on google image search are one continuous page now so you're just scrolling down but it still keeps count for you? Which is how i came across ms spears.

I stumbled upon this. I was prepared to scoff, but I was pleasantly surprised.
In most ways it's just as good as TOS. There are some niggling annoyances,
but overall methinx it's pretty good fan filmery.

The look and vibe are dead on. The 2nd one is better.
Chris Doohan, Erin Gray, Marina Sirtis' disembodied voice,
Lou Ferrigno painted green, and a new curvy redhead character ftw.

So I really dig Stargate SG1, but a few months ago I went and rewatched all the ST TNGs ad realized that stargate fully stole all the shows and just changed the names to protect the guilty.

Never watched it. The movie put me to sleep, so I just figured...

It's just Time Tunnel with better graphics, rite?

But I know I'm out of step & behind times & hard to please & all. Heck, I'm just now in the middle of watching the Firefly series for the first time. It was pretty good, huh?

I only ever saw the Stargate movie, never saw the TV shows. Did I miss out? Also, those fan-made Star Trek episodes sure got a lot right! I'm struck particularly by hard much they stick to the 60's style lighting techniques.

They need a better Kirk, though.

Yeah, but apparently he's the Exec. Producer, the main writer, editor, guy who made it happen, ect. He made a few 'vignettes', upon which he raised something like $130,000 on Kickstarter (Kirkstarter lol). He'd be fine if he could lower his voice a half octave and raise his Awesumilitude Quotient about tenfold. As for the rest of the actors, they're mostly volunteers. We've seen worse ones getting paid.

I like that fact that they got Scottie's son to carry on. And Checkoff is the actor who played young Boba Fett.

I agree the sets & lighting & stuff are dead on, The Kirk dude, who has some sort of cinematical degree, said they even stuck to the old 4:3 ratio, just for 'the look'.

All in all, I'd pay a dollar each to see some moar of those... Bad thing is, they violate the fan film code if they profit.

The stargate show is a lot better than the movie.

Well if you think about it, the main show lasted ten years and they only stopped because the wanted to play other characters in their careers. The spin off Atlantis is also pretty awesome and lasted five years. That's longer than a lot of other shows so they must have done something right.

Hm. I'll hafta rent that series sometime. With which series should one begin?

Poll: Have you ever binge-watched a whole series in a couple of days and felt all glassy-eyed and guilty afterwards? I & the fam did that with "Chuck" over Christmas break.

Five.

Whole.

Seasons.

Of hour-long epis.

Fun show, though.

Yeah, TBBT's a fave. I didn't start watching till a few years ago, so I had ~ five years of catching up to do.

Inquiring minds may want to know: Wolowitz is teh pretty good keyboard player (1:15).

Sheldon, too, reputedly.

So Plinky, the stargate series is about 220 episodes....the first time through took me four months and I admit that spent entire weekends sometimes burning through them.

Anyway, the atlantis ones start just after season seven of sg1. The two shows overlap a bit so you can follow it by switching on and off at that point.

The show is, overall, pretty awesome. But having said that, there are some TERRIBLY CHEESEY episodes, mostly in the first few seasons, and I don't mean just a couple. But still, taking all 10 seasons as a whole, it's pretty great and has some awesome story lines, even if it does have some serious ups and downs in quality.

I learned something interesting about Gene Roddenberry on Wikipedia recently: he piloted a B-17 Flying Fortress in WWII. Bad ass. WTF did George Lucas do?

Roddy was an LA cop too.

Lucas made American Graffiti, & I liked it. I never saw THX 1138. Anybody?
