The future of CMG..

Hey dudes and dudette..

I know, I know "there's a front page?". You slay me with your rapier like wit.. :smoke:

It's been long enough and I'm now getting notifications from the host that things are kinda outdated and wonky-ish... the blog was fun and kept me sane for a few years. No, I didn't acheive legendary status, but it was cool.. :snax: Life has moved on for all of us it it seems and so...

no I'm not closing anything, but I'm thinking of switching the main hosting account to a sub account, or at least asking and changing the URL to outofthevoid.co, which is my own personal kind of label, home page I set up for myself but never used. I am slowly dipping toes into the musical pool again and I'd like to focus on me and my art.. and maybe even offer ambient and sound effect sampler libraries for sale etc.

So the question begs to ask, would it kill you to update some book marks? I mean, I know i'm pulling teeth here, but the world keeps on turning.. I'll give due notice of course and make sure everyone is on board.

However I'm open to suggestions in how to handle the whole thing too.. if you have suggestions for the front page. However, if you ask if there's a front page..

Well you've been providing this forum and I was hoping it wouldn't just die... so yeah updating a few bookmarks is obviously the least we could do  If this becomes part of some other place where you get free hosting or where you can add subforums I'd be there too. Hopefully you can find some solution that doesn't require any or hardly any investment.

oh no it's cheap to run.. I have an account and then another website set up into another folder, under the main one, on the server. it would just go from computermusiguide.com/forum to outofthevoid.co/forum. Same posts, accounts everything because the forum is in it's own folder. Just the outside URL would change, but all would remain neat and tide and the same here :)

More simply put, nothing will change but the address.

I'd send PMs in advance to Bonso and topcat and whoever else hasn't been here in a while... you probably have their emails too... I think they'll appreciate a heads up. They might even show up

I tried the mass email function with a "coming soon" kind of message. You should get it at the email you registered with. If you do, let me know. Thanks! :)

Good idea CR!

Fine with me.

I don't seem to be posting much on the internet at the moment, have got back into practicing a bit more seriously the last year or two, also have a fair bit on in RL, not unpleasantly so.

Why would that surprise you? What would you peg my favorite as?

You know it's really tough.. Honestly, that's what was so great about that era.. all these bands with different sounds that were all equally awesome.. Could you really sit here and say you're totally into armin van buren and he's your fave over ferry corsten? Just like die hard, bought the tshirt and committed to the tattoo? No  But try and ask me to pick against Ministry's the mind is a terrible thing to taste, KMFDM's light, SP Rabies, Smashing pumpkins siamese dream, Sisters of Mercy's floodland, FT242's up evil or front by front.. on and on.. I can't. I have a special relationship with each. Although I'd say skinny puppy is right at the top.

Wait..are you certain that changing the name of the blog won't disrupt the community here? I mean it's hard enough to get folks to hang out here as it is, do you really want to make it impossible for them to find it again?????

At least we've got a video.

I can keep both URls and just change the home page.. :idk: With the exception of Plink and Greg I think most or all of us have posted in the thread, that are now active anyway.

I sent out a mass email, I guess you guys didn't get it.. I can do individual ones to make sure everyone gets one.

Probably just a redirect page at http://computermusicguide.com/forum/ will do for a while once everything is moved over... that should be easy enough to set up.
