In which we talk cars

Postby ElectricPuppy » Tue Dec 08, 2015 6:24 pm

At the end of my long, personal nightmare (aka school), I've been told (by she-who-must-be-obeyed) that I can get a new car. (Additional parenthetical because why not.)

Now, I tend to favor small, sporty things, roadsters in particular. There's a Jaguar F-Type convertible that parks at our office, and it's... well, it's REALLY sharp:

However, that's a thick pile of money. I'm wondering what my chances of finding a used one are?

Anyway, that's what I'm kinda GASing for. What do you guys have on your "10/10 would drive" list?

I don't think I"ll ever buy a smaller sports car. But if I did anywhere in the near future, it would probably be a Saturn Sky.

And I think nothing beats a newer Corvette in terms of looks. But $$$.

I own mine. 2012 red candy metallic Mustang. Cheap. Basic. Fast. And I love it. (It only took me 15 years to get one)

(exactly like mine, only the one pictured has two more cylinders)

Yeah, the new 'Vette is nice, too. I dunno, man. On the one hand, "I deserve a nice car!" On the other hand, "Holy crap, that's a lot of money for a *car*!"

Entitled me is fighting cheap-ass me in my mind. (Cue Star Trek fight music here.)

I'm impressed with how Ford manages to make it modern while at the same time making it LOOK like a Mustang.

My wife digs muscle cars. She's hankering for a Challenger.

Dude. You only live once, and you can't take any of it with you when you go.

Get. Your. Car.

The '12 is by far my favorite body style. Retro and modern, all at once. The interior is the same. Very old-school but with a contemporary flair.

When I was a teenager, ALL I WANTED FOR XMAS was a 300Zx. In the early 90's, those were the shiz.

Ah yes. I wanted one for a while, too, and a good friend of mine bought one and had it for a while.

I had a Pontiac once, I don't miss it. I had a Toyota once, I *do* miss it, except it it was totally gutless.

Anyway, Clab, you miss the point. You don't GAS even slightly for something else?

Now that's just funny - my Pontiac is actually built for Pontiac by Toyota (Pontiac Vibe, based on the Toyota Matrix). It's got the Corolla powertrain. So, it's a Pontiac Toyota - unremarkable, yet gutless. :)

You didn't ask me, but I'll answer :D

I have GAS... for synths, guitars, cameras and lenses. Cars? Feh :smoke:

Ok I read some of teh thread.

Point one: this is my third 94 Toyota pickup. I've had it a year and it took me 5 years to find one with no rust in Chicago.

It's is my dream car. I wish I could manage to drive one for the rest of my life.

Point two: I do fancy a 68 camero ss, and maybe a bit of 84 vette, but that truck is the perfect vehicle for me.

Point next: regarding this thread in general, aren't you the guy that had a free ride certificate for a synth and just let it expire two years later??? No offense, but I don't think you'll get the car. I think you're just too practical and you'll keep rockin the mini.

But anyway, thanks for letting us lust after a sports car vicariously through your good fortune.

/thread killed.
