The M3 is just something I have to move outta there someday, along with it's 220 Les. I like that M3 though, it's in beautiful shape. It was probably someone's Granny's organ most of it's life. It was most certainly not one of the ones that I gigged around with, they were all beat to hek. A couple of them I even caused to be severed of their under hinder parts.

The A is in there, just out of the pic. Actually, I'm not sure if I want to keep it there in the 'control room' or in the big basement room. Same question goes for the electro-drum kit.

When I did TEH COVER BAND thingy I was actually surprised how much of an audience reaction that song had, considering that growing up I thought Journey had sort of a cheeseball reputation. TBH I do think that song is pretty good, but there's the video for it, which is, um...

(Actually, perhaps it gets the modern audience "pop" partially *because* of that video. The cheesiest kitsch from the past is often celebrated ironic culture a couple of decades later, the hipsters weren't the first to do this by far...)

All synth parts were done on the Alesis Andromeda.

iirc, in the 80s Journey had not so much the cheeseball rep, rather they belonged to the mainstream non-threatening pop cadre, along with Huey Lewis, Foreigner, Hall & Oats ect. Those acts were the most successful, so I guess it's not surprising that their tunes would still be good choices for an 80s cover band. But if one was a hardcore Poison/Whitesnake/Def Leppard type banger, one would always pick fights with the Men@Work/Duran/Blondie fans.

And yeah, I expect the Andromeda could easily handle the synth duties of that song.

And just because we're all synth nerds here, no one's gonna razz me if I say that I not only skipped through that silly MTV video but a live version as well, just to find out what synths he used for that song. I can't say what they used in the studio, but for live it was Jup 8 for the intro & P5 for the pads & whistley middle eight sound. Interestingly enough, I saw that when the keys player was comping for the Big Lead Guitar Solo, he was polychording with both hands on both synths, of which I didn't notice that on the original version.

You can see for yourselves, or just thank me for doing the dirty work.

I actually had to go look up that video... I had forgotten about that  Honestly though, they were too good to do such low brow, david lee roth esque videos... :freak: Maybe that was the thing.. they were trying to dumb them down. I want to say, not in video, their image was more grown up, or at the time, a bit of a throw back to progressive rock. But man I love journey... rush, any of the 80's chick power ladies..

I dunno.. I guess having a crappy atari game didn't help their image either

I've heard them (youtube) and quite enjoyed them! It's funny to see how they went from a proggy/fusiony band to a pop ballad band. Gotta pay the bills I guess :) I blame Jonathan Cain more than I blame Steve Perry... but I'm fine with what Journey ended up with, really. Good memories.

Huh. I never heard them till now, really good 70s stuff. Some of it sounds a bit like Santana without the congas.

I like it, Thanks Clava!

But the pitfall of listening to olde albumns on uToob is that you get tempted into listening to five or ten moar. Like this evening, instead of being productive, I listened to Journey # 1 & 2, which led to a couple by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, followed by some Uriah Heep (Magician's Birthday!), Allan Parsons, and finally Nazareth, just for old times sake.

No harm done. Those journey 1,2 records are something people like us should definitely hear at least once. And then MM's earth band is always good for some deliberately played vintage keys.

Also, I think that (without trying to sound fatalistic), whatever you do with your time is what you're supposed to be doing at a given time. All of your experiences and interactions are precisely what makes you YOU. Even if it's not the path you planned, it's the path marked for you.

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE O/K
