I have been working.

Overwriting most of the presets on the JU with homemade ones.

Writing/recording riffs.

Arranging.

Coming up with everything except something that sounds song-worthy.

Still. I've been synthing hard lately.

I really ought to just say "screw it" and record SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Even if it sucks.

It so happens that I may have some time to myself on Sunday, but it depends on if I've finished my homework by then or not.

Um, yes?

It's easy for artists who make a living from their art to rant and rave in this manner. It doesn't apply to people like US, who don't have the luxury of creating full-time, but rather must have jobs so that we can make a check.

PFT! I say.

I agree, but I think that wasn't really the point.

The guy in the article has a crippling disability, too, but he just makes himself go and work on his craft especially when he doesn't feel like it.

Even if we only have a couple hours a week we should try and get something done in those couple hours. Even if we feel like playing videogames instead, or watch TV, or surfing the web.

I might be just preaching to myself here, I'm a news junkie lately.

I mean, I get it. There are times when I think "I need to get up in the studio and do something productive. But I'd rather do something fun!"

Now, on the surface this could lead you to the conclusion that I don't enjoy making music or noodling around, and that it seems like work. The answer is, depends on my mood. And since I don't make money at it, and it is just a hobby, I feel like I should be able to treat it AS a hobby insofar as I'll noodle around and make music when I damn well please. When the mood hits. When it feels right. NOT because I think I *should*.

(Also, language and caps for emphasis only, definitely not yelling or angry)

Sometimes I wonder just how much more productive I'd be if I just disconnected the internet.

And that is why the phrase "inspiration is for amateurs" rings true, isn't it? ;)

(Also, not trying to be a smart ass or anything, just trying to get my own butt back to doing music. Or should I say my own ass. Ass is the word of the day)

SO ANYWAY.

Tiem to get cracking on some chunes, mang? I have no idea what I'd do. The thing is, though, I can hear some good stuff in my head, but the moment I sit down and try to realize it, it all disappears. Why does this happen???
