Direct guitar sound

Postby christianrock » Tue Apr 15, 2014 7:19 pm

So I'm going back to acoustic at my church, because they're not allowing the use of amps anymore. Everything will be direct, and right now I don't have any guitar preamps or processors that have a direct sound.
I'm not sure I'm going to buy one, I might just stick to acoustic for now.
But if I were to buy one, what would you guys suggest?
The Line 6 stuff isn't gonna work, had it, sold it... the Behringer V-Amp2 was actually a better sounding unit IMHO (gave that one to a friend). But if I buy something, it would be something less digital sounding.
My Hughes and Kettner Triamp does have a recording out, but it's not working. The amp went around the world a couple times so there's a few things that don't work anymore...

It's one of those amps in the right. My friend is the guitar player with the black tele and the short hair (since grown a lot)

Why aren't they allowing amps?

Do you have pickups in said acoustic?

New policy. We're moving to a new place so they're redoing the sound system, and using in-ear monitors.

As far as options - the Nova System (tc electronic) kind of looks nice.

Yes, no problems on the acoustic side... that's why I'm switching from electric to acoustic now.

I don't know, man. I'm only *really* familiar with POD direct injection.

I'm familiar with quite a few but I don't think they're worth the hassle...

So you just need a preamp, or something with effects?

I guess it has to have all effects as I don't think they work well if you put pedals in front of them...

That's true, they really don't. Well, damn. I'm no help.

That's alright. I don't think I'll buy anything anyway. I'd rather upgrade my camera body

I also want to buy some monitors first...

I had a Rockman in 1992 or so!!!!

The chorus was to die for. The distortion was kind of meh, but I agree that it was better than most of the stuff I've played with.

As an update to this thread. I now have a Boss ME-70. The price was irresistible (free). A friend of mine had it and decided he wasn't going to use it anymore.

Haven't had time to play with it a lot yet. First impression on electric guitar was kinda meh, but let's see what I can do to the patches...

I might use it mostly on acoustic, so a bit of reverb and delay might be all I need.

Alright. I'll try :)

I already read reviews that told me why I will be annoyed with it. Like having a sound gap when changing patches. I hate that... that's why I think it'll work on acoustic, set one patch and leave it the whole time :)
