Here is a work in progress though, the bass line was tacked on at the end of the session just to see what it would sound like. I think we are actually going to start from scratch with a different drum beat.

Thank you, my friend. :)

All of those guitar overdubs are the Mesa and the Hollowbody. I don't think I have tracked with only one guitar and one amp in over a decade, but that is how much I love that rig.

The vocals will go on after we retract it. I think there will be some format changes as well. I really like the song though.

Yes. Yes you do. :thu:

But I know exactly what you mean about the sameyness of machine generated patts. Maybe we listened to too much prog in our formative years...

ElectricPuppy wrote:I'm not good at creating my own drum patterns
Maybe you've just never had the right machine to input them. Regular keyboards suk for that, I think, and so do all the pad boxes I've tried. A regular kit (acoustic or elec) is best. I don't think I've ever heard you say if you've spent much time with a regular drum trap? I know you've bass geetared.

You should totally join forces with me to create the world's first affordable 48 pad midi drum controller.

Teh ElectricPlinker, we'll call it.

Surely I'm not the only one here that thought a better name would be Teh PlinkPuppy !

My excuses for not posting much lately are like a lot of yours. Just finishing up my first semester back in college after 30 some years, moving into new house (the land of 1000 projects), new baby (not mine, but GFs daughter), new band project, etc. I know ... That's no excuse. But I did get my studio moved, setup, working, and recorded my first doodle, so all is good. I have a week off before summer semester starts. I do check in and try to keep up with what's going on here though.

I wish you luck! I just graduated and I had as much as you going on when I started and I know how tough it can be.

I've been wanting to ask you though, that UVI sample pack of retro / vintage machines you picked up, was there any raw synth material to it? or was it newer dance orientated patches? They released another one that sounds or looks good, but the demos are the same dance material, when I'm after the synth stuff.

tanks.

Sheesh, it must be contagious! I just made an appointment this morning with a councilor at the local college to get my academic groove back in gear.

I never picked that up so cannot help you much there. I just recently upgraded to Cubase 7 so I'm enjoying HALion Sonic (and intend to upgrade to the full version soon). Also planning on checking out HALion Symphonic Orchestra as well. I already have Omnisphere and after reading this thread I need to put Stylus RMX and Trilian on my short list too.

Damn, I need to sell some shit to fund all these things ...

Also, wtf is up with everyone going back to school? I'm feeling like a slacking SOB since I have no plans to.

I took a two year break, but I haven't stopped going to college since 1993. I think it's worth doing, but you've got your field or what you want career wise.

I was teaching computer classes myself for the last 15 years, got laid off, searched for work, no degree, VA says "we'll pay for you to go back to school and get yer degree." No brainer.

If you can do it, do it.

Yea, I'm planning on staying right where I am until retirement. I have moved steadily up the chain and will be head of this department in a few years.
