lol @ first I was like "Dude there's at least four geetars there..." but then I was like "Ooohhh, it a mirror wall!"

And I'm just sillying about the Roland, I'm no big fan either, although if I ever get a cheap chance at a Jupiter or D550/PG1000 I'd probably take it... I have Edirol VSC myself, as well as the Edirol HQ Orchestral Synthesizer which is actually a lot of fun.

But yeah, no new Roland stuff tickles my fancy. I had a Juno-60 but used it mostly like a string machine and for pads. For leads I always reached for the Poly61. I really like my A-80 controller, & I still have a J-106, but meh that really... Oh yeah, I'm keeping my AX-1b keytar shh!

If I were to get something new, it'd definitely be the Kronos.

Hey Midinut - is most of your songs in that page M3 or Kronos? I'm surprised you keep both. It is a killer setup though :)

I hear a bit of Karma going on there :)

There is a lot of Karma going on there. A lot of my stuff comes from experimenting around with the Combis that use Karma and messing with the Karma controls and scenes. This usually provides a "bed" for what I do, then I solo things on top of it. Sometimes, the inspiration comes from Omnisphere, where I'll dabble around with ARPs and layers and such in the same way.

Yeah, the M3 provided so much to my first CD that I am trying to decide whether to get rid of her or not. I experienced seller's remorse after selling my original red Karma as I had used it for many compositions too. Sonically, I totally realize that the Kronos gives me everything the M3 does and then some (with the exception of maybe the RADIAS board). Also, many of the Combis I used on the CD are also in the Kronos, but for some reason, they don't sound "exactly" the same. Hard to explain. In the meantime, I'll just keep on churning out this baby-making porn music and see what happens. I've already got CD 2 and CD 3 ready to copyright and release. I've just been lazy. Plus, the guitar player I used on the first one hasn't been available and I'd love to have him add some guitar magic to the new tracks.

I think the basses and bass drums in the M3 are quite weaker than the ones in the Kronos. It could be the programming, the samples, or it could be just that the M3 doesn't handle lower frequencies as well. I found that problem with the demos that keybdwzrd did years ago. I kind of feel that in your demos as well. I think you'd be fine with the Kronos instead.

I thought you had played the guitars btw, since you have a couple of them and the POD :)

Nah, I'm an adaquate rhythm player and fingerpicker, but I can't do leads ... yet. I've been taking some lessons that have taught me some basic scale patterns and I've learned about open tunings (which are awesome btw) but I can't play lead just yet. I'm working on developing that though. I hate having to rely on guitar players with too many addictions to make them reliable enough to get tracks laid down.

Regarding the M3, maybe the wise thing to do would be to sample the combis (and variations) that I used in my songs to the Kronos (or the computer) so that I can recreate them live if the need ever comes up. THAT, really, is the only reason I am considering holding onto her. Okay, maybe the RADIAS board ... and the 73 keys ... and the pads ... and the piano roll ... lol

But I see what you're saying and I agee. The Kronos is so much better. When I reach over and play the M3 piano sounds now, I just feel like I'm playing a Yamaha PortaSound. Creepy.

I figured your school was a big time suck, but the other stuff sounds really scary! Even though I'm teh double dad, I never had to deal with that preggo stuff, since mine are both adopted. Just keep your head down...

Myself, I just can't imagine going back to school for something Super Serious like BSEE, even though I already did the first half. I do, however, think I'd enjoy something fluffy, like EngLit.

Things are fine with me, thanks for asking. Good to hear from ya!

Not absolutely committed to anything yet. I taught computer classes (apps) for 15 years and got laid off. Was working in private sector where a degree wasn't required. with all the people out of work WITH degrees, I didn't stand a chance. The VA is paying for 4 years of college and have approved me for Computer Science but I can change it if I want. I may look into education, as I really loved to teach. For now, I'm halfway through my first semester at a local community college working towards an Associate in Arts or Fine Arts. I'll then enter a four year college here as a Junior and work towards a Bachelor. May even look to a Masters beyond that.

So I'm taking all the 111 courses I can to get all this general studies stuff out of the way. Music Appreciation is opening my eyes to some cool stuff. Algebra is kicking my arse. And, I've been out of school (as a student) for 35 years. Trying to get back into a groove of studying.

On the second note, baby did squirt out Thursday night and is coming home from hospital Saturday. Last night of peace and quiet for a while.
