Dude. I am so jealous. Honestly.

I don't want a JP-08. I mean, I would (who wouldn't?), but the System 8 can do that. Plus Juno 106, PLUS IT'S OWN INTERNAL SYNTH ENGINE that's actually very nice, imo.

I hate to say it since I don't think it needs to be said, but I was only cracking a joke about starting to like you.

I mean, damn. I am so jealous.

DUDE. Is yours the version that came pre-loaded with the 106? If so, and whenever you have the time (no pressure here) and since you STILL haven't done Broken Wangs vox after all this time (so long), upload me some sounds demos from the 106 stock presets.

I know, I know. I have a serious thing for the 106's sound, and I did buy the Boutique and it does sound great, but I'd sell it in an instant to partly fund a Sys 8 because, LARGE KEYS and 8-voice poly.

Did I mention I am jealous?

106 sounds with 8 voices???

That's just wrong. 2 extra voices will ruin the unique expressiveness you get when limited to fewer voices.

Ok ok. Look first of all its a no brainier since I am terribly in love with the Jupiter 8 and won't get one for a long time. The jp08 never really did it for me; too small I guess. So I'm hoping that this thing is a good enough emulation in between trips to STG sound labs.

You may remember that I never got attached to the Juno 6 either and so I thought maybe I would sell them both for a system 8, and then I saw a S8 for 1150 and thought, dang, I can get that much for the Juno 6..plus I only paid 250 for the Juno ;)

As it stands, the polysix has to pay for the OB6, and I figure the OB6 and the S8 together will account for the fact that there is no split in the OB, as well as only 6 voices.

I feel like I'm teh rambling.

So yes I'll make some tracks with the 106 SI, but just so you know, I don't like the 106. I think the system 8 looks like a cool synth on its own, but I'm really in there for the Jupiter.

Hey man, to each their own. But for me, the 106's sawtooth osc plus it's delicious chorus just has a magical sound to it that I can't be without. Plus, it's PWM isn't anything to shake a stick at either. It's so simple in architecture, but has a sound that's so rich. I dunno, maybe I'm just nostalgic for "that" sound since basically every 80's album I love has it in there somewhere. You don't have to spend a lot of time of any demos for me, I just wanna hear it a little. :)

But that's the great thing about the System 8 - you can have BOTH these synths and more in one package. Congrats on getting one for the cheeeeep, mang. You are lucky.

Thanks, but I dont think its luck...I'm a really good buyer. How else do you think ii populated my studio?? The OB6 was a NAMM display so I got it for 2499. It was basically new with warranty except maybe Stevie wonder played with it or something

My history of buying synths is a mix of looking for things like that, and also being open and asking good questions; like when I asked the Mexican Elvis impersonator if he ever used a real rhides or a leslie and he said 'I have both in my garage, come over and get that junk out of there, I also have one of those mooogs, you know the little one, the littlemoog'

That was probably the world's last $50 minimoog.

So anyway I stay away from retail and I network. Anyone could do it. (Sort of)

I live in southern Alabama.

I am likely the only synth player/programmer for at least a 200 mile radius.

Look, to be sure,I've been halfway done since last spring. I started it, then I had to go out, and I just didn't go back to it yet.

I suppose I really should finish that sucker.

And yeah, I had a 106 in the studio for a few months back in 99 or 2000. The chorus is definitely a strong point, but I have a handful of Boss CE-2s that really do it for me.

When you say the 106 is on everything you listen to it made me chuckle because the Jupiter is all over stuff I listen to :). I mean, you guys do listen to Rio don't you??

Fwiw, I was just watching a couple minutes of this video, and the 106 sounds fantastic. That's not really what I remember it sounding like when it was here, but then it didn't have Roland's famous reverb. Anyway, are these the factory presets? Because it sounds great
