We have a bread machine. We love it, HOWEVER, bread is the express lane to buttlard, so we stopped using it. We haven't used it in quite a while actually. But there's nothing so dreamy as to walk into the house smelling of warm bread. Nice, fresh, warm bread, put some butter on that, NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM SO TASTY

Europeans (and Brazilians) eat a LOT of bread and don't turn into buttlard city.

So I pretty much dispute that.

I agree with CR. My wife's Norwegian and they eat HUGE amounts of bread, and it's rare to see a fat Norwegian.

My wife bakes bread from scratch and doesn't use a bread machine. It's DELUSCIOUS !!!

I used to make bread from scratch for my mom when I was a teen, she taught me how. But I just don't have the time...

I can get good results with the machine though, now that I know its tricks.

I had a machine. It was kickass. The bread was very dense though so I pretty much always used it with awesome soup like pea soup with a ham bone or with casserole type stuff.

One time the bread machine walked off the counter and teh broke, but we got another one and all was well. I think my ex-roomates from that time still have it... I should make some soup and have them make some bread... ah winter - she be comin'.

I'll have you know I've tasted calf brains, head cheese, various livers, gizzards, chicken hearts, cow tongue, stomach, bison, deer, bear (and probably every other type of game in America), lamb, gote, rattlesnake, octopus, squid, crawdad, fried egg sac of various local fishes, and probably every type of normally consumable fish, crustacean and mollusk except eel, which I'd try if it was handy.

That said, I wouldn't care to reprise some of the experiences. And I'll admit, yanks seem to consume a more narrow spectrum of foodstuffs than our world neighbors.

But, what's up with eating bugs? I will not try bugs.

Or testes.

Don't bother heating up the pan,

I will not eat them, Sam I Am.

They're called Maltesers.

Have you ever eaten whale whilst wearing a baby seal-skin vest? I have. Political incorrectness in abundance :-)

That's pretty close to Maltestes, which I will not eat.

I have not tasted any aquatic mammalia, as far as I can recall, especially attired in such horrific habiliments.

I always use a little extra yeast to make it a bit fluffier, and I always make 1.5lb brad even though it can make up to 2 lbs. Making it a bit lighter means it rises better and is less dense, too. Finally, on mine the French Bread setting makes fluffier bread, so I use that setting for everything  My favorite bread has two cups of regular flour, plus a cup of all wheat flour, and a bit of corn flour. And real butter. ahhhh good stuff.

Also, polish sausage. is TEH delicious.
