So I'm giving the new LCD Soundsystem album a shot... I don't know, I'm not sure if this is my thang. Anyone else found anything new and exciting lately?

i haven't heard them before, but lemme guess, buzzy bouncy club music? or indie rock? or both?

I've had that tik tok song stuck in my head ever since I saw it on the simpsons.. i dont normally care for pop music but it has a nintendo sort of sound to it and there's some effective pauses and changes in rythm that make it interesting.

I think were in an age where you can't tell what sort of music someone makes by the way they dress anymore :faceplam: justice looks like 70's bikers, daft punk.. and probably LCD sound system all tend to sound the same but they look totally different.

Me, I always end up finding something more interesting from the last 30 years that I listen to. I guess i'm still at that age where i'm finding interesting things I never could follow up on before when i was younger. like some lyrics would come to mind and i'd never know who wrote the song and then I can type them into Google and find out where as you couldn't do that 20 years ago.

lately i've been listening to flogging molly, the cockney rejects, ash.. all right next to the podcasts I like.. above and beyond, blank and jones.. and whatever comes on satellite radio.

's Funny... I used to be very narrow minded about music. If it wasn't almost exclusively keyboardcentric, I had little use for it, no sir. I embrace a much larger sphere. nao.
Same with literature. Till I was about 30, I read almost nothing but SF. Then, it seems like a switch flipped in my head. Now I read lots of different stuff, especially Victorian Era novels. Go figger.

Enoch Light presented spaced out exploratory trips through the music of Bach, Bacharach and
The Beatles, integrating the Moog, the guitar scene, electric harpsichord, flugelhorns, ect.

In my little cube here at the office, I've been playing Supertramp's "Crime of the Century" quite a bit. I've never really gotten into it much before beyond the staples (School, Bloody Well Right, Dreamer), but I'm finding now that I'm enjoying the whole album.

Just won this double album on the 'bay:

Image

Will it be as good as I remember it from 1969?
Will any of my old turntables still work when I dig them out of storage?
Do phono cartridges & styli deteriorate with age?
Can I use a mic pre-amp with a mag phono pickup?
When I get the album, will there be some old seeds stuck in the spine?

I think everything should work fine, as long as the equipment had no issues when they were stored.
I would recommend cleaning the stylus.http://www.needledoctor.com/Brand-Stores/Stylus-Cleaners
In my unprofessional opinion, the mag phono pickup should be fine.
Grind the seeds and make some warm tea, then listen to new album.

I'm listening to the new Devo album, "Something For Everybody". It sure sounds like Devo, with the bouncy rhythms and quirky synth noises here and there. I think I might have to buy it.

Today's selection: "Out of the Blue" by ELO. There's some good stuff on here, but there's some over-the-top bombastic silliness here, too.

Ohboyohboyohboy!

I got my vinyl and my phonograph out of the storage barn today! The albunums look fine, and the player's still in good nik. I haven't hooked it up yet, I'm gonna wait for a record cleaning kit & a new needle to arrive.

I have:

- almost every ELP album
- almost every Deep Purple
- almost every Styx
- almost every early Yes
- almost every early Rush
- and many more!
