If you just hold a keytar but don't play it, is it still dorky?

Well, that's because keytar playing is best done standing up.

I always wanted to play this live, but I never was in a band that had either another horn player or someone else good enough to play one or two of the other horn parts on synth.

I like it that all three horns get to take a lead in this one. Notice how different the two tenor saxes sound? I wonder if it's like that before effects & EQ; like, the middle guy has a metal mouthpiece and pencil mc whereas the right hand guy maybe has a rubber mouthpiece & bigger mic dia?

ooooooooooohhhhhhhh yeesssssssssssssssss...! Fantastic!

I can vouch for the same size saxes sounding different, having played sax in band in school for 6 years. I had a metal jazz mouthpiece, the other guys had the school-issue plastic ones. But not just the mouthpiece; It's the shape of the mouthpiece, the kind of reed (lots of different kinds there), and even the horn itself would change the sound. I could move my mouth piece to the other guys' horns and it would sound and play different my regular sax.

I kinda miss playing sax... I should dig that alto out of the closet and brush-up.

Last time I got out my sax and had a bit of a play to show my son, my wife asked me if it was broken.

I haven't played since.

It's hard to get neglected sax chops back. The embouchure, it hurts. The lungs, they wheeze.

I have a pretty unforgiving setup too.......metal mouthpiece with a plastic reed. Good for being heard in a noisy band, but not so good for quiet playing in the house.

I've been meaning to look up 'skiffle' for quite some time. I finally did. Here it is...

Quite spiffing lads, eh wot? Remember snare brushes? And not a plectrum in sight.

New (to me) other people's music:

"Not Your Kind of People" (album) by Garbage.

I'm a long-time fan of Garbage, mostly due to Shirley Manson's uber buttery voice, and quirky music. This newest album as a whole (which was released months ago, but I'm just finding out about it because I basically suck) is SUPER over-produced, SUPER trendy, and SUPER commercial. Bascially, a total opposite of their debut album. Having said that, there are a couple of really good songs there, imo. "Not Your Kind of People" (song) is probably my favorite. It's super sexy.

(Yes, I'm totally biased toward this band. Most people will probably think the album is garbage (pun intended)).

So if you YouTubez this album, start with "Not Your Kind of People" (song) for warm fuzzies. Then "Automatic Systematic Habit" is probably the next best song, imo.

What's hillarious about that 1957 Jimmy Page video is that all ads that show are pretty geriatric. Google's doing well with their targeted ads

And yes, Garbage rocks. My favorite is still 2.0. Which was also pretty over produced. But I like over production...

Garbage's some of the best 90s stuff.
