You could walk in on a Saturday sometimes and Jeff Berlin would be there playing for you, with nobody really paying attention to him. On other days, you could see Frank Gambale, Dave LaRue, Billy Sheehan or even Yngwie noodling around. Thems were the days.
:eek:

Sheehan's been featured @ the last few Sweetfests. That dude can play stuff on bass that most six stringers can't manage.

My Samash has a nice big performance stage, but it seems to attract only annoying noodling noobs.

You're quite right, there is no metro system in Tampa. It's a shame really as we could benefit from light rail in many ways. Unfortunately, our governor Rick Scott, passed on a stimulus package that would have provided money for said system, for no other reason that it was "obama's" money.

Well, you can't all have Chris Christie.

Obama won't even offer us any mass transit money. But it would be dumb to try to implement it here anyway: not enough pop/density to make it pay.

Indiana may even withdraw the subsidy for the only passenger train left that goes from Indy to Chicago. Kinda sad, really. But I rode it once, and because of breakdowns and schedule snafus it took SIX HOURS each way, just because of bad maintenance and befuddled management.

Speaking of mass transit, my pre-vaca research informs me that Fla is home to moar troll roads than any other state, some of which are usable only by cars equipped with RFID gizmos. I read many horror stories of tourists gouged by toll rental car scams. Earlier this year, my bil vacationed in St. Pete where he was charged $12 for one .90¢ toll. If I understand Enterprise's agreement, their deal is just a $4/day surcharge plus actual tolls, nothing else. so I'm using them.

Yes, the tolls in Florida, particularly the Orlando area, suck big time.

We had one toll road in Georgia with one toll booth. It was done away with.

Does "unknown variables" == "teenagers"?

Well, that and all the other pitfalls that travelling is fraught with. Like the rental car dude saying "Reservation for Mr. Floyd? Let's see, Floyd...Floyd... Nope, don't find it... Please stand behind over there behind the losers rope..."

I am in balmy Florida. BALMY. What's with this weather, man, is it always like this here? :lol: Now I see what the snowbirds come down here for.

Hey Metro, now that I/ve been on teh 11 hour flight to Hellenback, I,m not in the mood for Apopka Pete's Airboat Rocket Ride. Did you mention something about a quiet relaxing beach bar somewhere?

You should visit during Thanksgiving. It's unnaturally balmy there then, too. It's weird, man.

It is possible to get a suntan in December down here. :grin:

Usually, November through March is not *QUITE* so balmy. The cold front that is just coming through will bring a taste of that for a few days.
