It's funny that the Minaj Anaconda song thing *does* sample "Baby Got Back", which isn't exactly the smartest pop song released in 1992.

What I didn't realize until I read the Wiki just now, is that Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" sampled Channel One's "Technicolor". Channel One being Detroit techno guru Juan Atkins and Doug Craig (Detroit techno guru Carl Craig's brother). So hopefully at least *some* of the Minaj moolah windfall is flowing their way. It'll make me feel better. :)

So, speaking of an intro to DSLR. Someone asked, why shoot film? This chart, I think, answers part of that question.

Image

One thing I hate is to have sunshine while I'm taking pictures, as I have to underexpose the part of the picture that has no sun in it, or just take the entire thing in sunshine. But with film it's a non-issue. They call it "the latitude of film". It's just hard to blow out the exposure.

So I've been taking pictures of the fall... I took this one and after converting it to black and white it looks like a drawing, doesn't it? I think one day I might like to frame it.

I also like this one. It's just the entrance to the office where I work, but at this angle it kinda looks pretty cool... :idk:

I was standing at the parking lot taking that picture. Here's one with a lens that is a bit wider...

And here's that same entrance as seen from the back of the office. It doesn't always look so idyllic (I learned that word from EP), it's when the light is hitting the right way :) You can see the main street in the back.

And this is what the entrance looked like today at lunch time (lunch time light is the worst...)

The leaves are almost gone

But at the office building next door there's still a couple trees with more leaves :)

We don't get Autumn where I live :-(. It's basically just summer, summer summer, and a bit less summer.

Sorry. Good one though, rite?

I'm trying to organize my millions of pic files. This is an old Chevy truck my fil was going to restore, but someone bought it as is & he made a few easy bucks just flipping it.

Pretty sweet, Plink :thu:

Soon I'll post a few from my trip to Brazil. But I didn't take as many pictures there, cuz I always had at least one and up to 3 kids dangling off my neck and arms at pretty much all times... and no complains about that :jam:

I bought my wife a pretty good camera few years ago, but it needs a new battery. I'm gonna get that up and running and see how it is, otherwise I've been contemplating buying a digital with some kind of zoom on it.

Image

I thought about getting one of these attatchments do hickeys, but after doing some research I've determined they are a novelty at best and coast as much as a separate camera.

And CR, I'm disappointed that we won't be sitting through an after vaca encore slide show presentation

Yeah those cell phone attachments will turn your cell phone into the suckiest point and shoot ever (since cell phone sensors are even smaller than point and shoot cameras, they really only work well with fixed lenses).

And we'll see if I have something to show from Brazil...

It's actually it's own ten megapixel camera. The concept sounded neat.. you get a 10 times zoom lens, HD etc, but you have to connect it to your PC to get the images. Your phone acts as a view finder via wi fi. I figured it's too gimmicky to be worth anything though.
