Well thanks! It was a purty good one! The highlight was buying a new iron because my old one went out - I like to have expertly pressed attire for work - AND we ate some delicious Thai food.

Happy Belated B-Day! Shame cuz I even knew it was coming...

I'm glad you had a good time!

I've been busy also, meetings and meetings about meetings. Yikes.

I *love* me some good Thai food. And I haven't had it in a long time. That surely must be fixed.

Also, DSLRs. yeah.

It was delicious, and yes, you should remedy your non-Thai food having self.

To whet your apetite, I had:

Appetizer sampler platter, complete with spring rolls, gyoza, and some other flavor of a wonton type thingie.
Tom Yum Gai soup - moderately spicy.
Chicken and mixed vegetables in Massaman curry.
Some kind of little fried dough thingies with large-crystal sugar sprinkled on top for dessert.

Oh, and Thai tea.

I suppose I should've put this in the food thread, but meh.

I love Thai. My brother's married to a Thai girl and lives in Bangkok - she's an awesome cook.

Pursuant to Treehouse Code 88.OU812, you must now take pics of Thai and poast them in this thread or be judged OT.

So I went for a walk around the Norcross downtown area near my work, at lunch time. I took pictures. And this is my artsy-fartsy pic of the day.

I lie. I have more artsy-fartsy stuff.

This pic (at least its unchanged form) made me know I have a certain lens I'm not going to get rid of, though it's one of the cheaper ones I've got.

And this is what fill-in flash can do to a picture. The non-flash version basically has no detail other than the post.

On the subject of fill-in flash. This is a picture taken with my most powerful flash (I have two), rated 199 feet at 100 ISO (which is what I was using).

And this is the same pic with no flash. Same settings, same processing. Not quite as good.

And yes I know I super-saturated the colors. Noon is not a good time to take pictures

LOL I was thinking to myself, "Self [cuz that's what I call myself in my head], I wonder if CR would take it the wrong way if I said this looks like a BDSM device, although I realize it's only a child's swing?"

And here I am thinking, man, this pic of an empty swing in front of an empty bench, will make people think of their missing childhood and how the joy of those years has now left an empty place in their souls.

But I guess I'll bin the pic, since obviously the only thing it makes people think of is teh secks.

Thank you SI. I just started out but I've been reading a lot about what makes a good pic. Not that I have it down yet, I'm still trying stuff. Today was the first day I experimented around with fill-in flash and the results are exactly what I read they would be like.

I see the appeal of photography. The gratification is much more instant. There's a lot that the machine does for you.

So since you are enabling me, I shall post 3 more from my noon excursion today
