I dunno... I couldn't even remember his name, that's how long ago it was

I was trying to tell self me and CR always argued with this one guy and I couldn't remember who it was.

I"ll say I've seen more system1's than i can count but not heard much buzz after the launch. Does that say anything?

It's also weird seeing the odd thread at GS pop up about how VIRII are that not big a deal

Tomkeen's a cool guy. I wonder what he's up to. I don't think SI even met him, that's how long ago he used to come here.

I also miss topcat.

The other day I was also wondering whatever happened to droolmaster0. And of course DualLowPass/DeliciousLampreyProblem.

their newer stuff looks promising like the clock thing, tr-08, fa-06, etc

forums have been migrating to social media groups for a while

lots of folks from gs and other forums pop up on fb all the time it seems even don solaris !

a while back i seen a chart that said most traffic goes to the top 10 sites. concentrations of synth nerds isn't that different

Droolmaster was the most argumentative dude I've ever met.

And who was that guy that always answered with bullet points? He loved to argue also.

He was over at Muffwiggler's for a while as Nelson Baboon. Because he was his usual over-argumentative self (particularly to mods / "authority"), he got banned. Then he got let back on. Then he got banned again for good earlier this year. No idea where he is now.

Social media tends to have more circle of friends and acquaintance type things going on, along with "fan" pages with more official announcements of the latest doohickies. Not really as good for discussions on anything extended about techniques and gear and whatever, the most you may get is Youtube tutorials. Not really good for general banter either.

I was telling self I want to quit facebook but it's hard. I get more synth news there than RSS feeds or anywhere else and that's even from the site / companies.

Yea the days of "everyone up in this" seem to be quickly coming to pass.... :( There's too much noise & too much unoriginal content. Everynow and then, i'll see a spike in conversation on a FB group or forum, but then they all fall back to a rest state of whining, click baiting and re posting / blogging content.

I will say instagram seems to be moving pretty well though. I'm on there for airsoft and personal use mainly, but everything is 100% original. Sadly though, nobody posts links to youtube videos, blog posts etc. The site kind of hampers community and discussion... which is nice in a way as well, but it's hard to be social on it.

Martin something... Oasys guy, right?

Speaking of Oasys... Remember carbon111? Kinda cool guy, but he did only like the finer things in life, apparently... I remember the day I put a pic of a delicious brazilian-style steak and he thought it was gross because it wasn't shaped like a filet mignon. Or something. He did the same thing to anyone who dared to say they liked coffee that wasn't hand-picked, hand-roasted and grinded the day it was made... something like that. So imagine him talking beer  other than that, cool guy.

Who else? Lots of them are still on gearslutz, like Paolo, controlvoltage, flat_earth, Yoozer, it seems old HC guys like The Hamburglar and Diametro are there too. Suit and Tie Guy seems active there as well... might have to visit back sometime. The forum there seems VERY active.

Edit: Don Solaris just did a demo for the Trident and put it on GS. I still kick myself for missing out on one that was on Craigslist for 475 dollars, like 3 years ago. Never gonna find that again.

Hamburgler was funny. I once accidentally happened upon a comment he'd put on yoochube, which totally had to be the same guy... really funny.

Gearslutz. Lots of old HC people there. Look for the Electronic Music Production subforum.

I've tried to spend time at GS, but it just isn't for me. I dunno what it is, maybe too big? Wait, maybe I do know: it seems impersonal. It seems to lack the 'circle of friends' thing that you saw @ HC, before mgmt drove us away. You could tell who chummed with whom. And as long as you weren't too much of a doosh, you were welcomed into most cliques. I don't see that @ GS.

I don't get FB at all, nope.

Apparently, the news of Roland's death have been greatly exaggerated.

Confession:

I'm sorta wanting a Roland Juno DS61. And then I can ditch the old Kurz.

You all may commence the shaming now.
