I'm kinda side-eyeing the System 1, actually.

If I didn't already have the KK I would get it. But one thing that turns me off, which is actually the biggest selling point, is the whole "plugout" thing. My DAW is still on XP, and I'm quite sure plugout drivers don't play nice. That said, System 1 sounds utterly fantastic, but I think I have those bases covered well enough with my other hardware synths.

I'm just eyeing a sort of mid-grade ROMpler like the Juno DS because I need passable pianos and strings for recording. While I do like my Kurz, I'm thinking the pianos and strings in the Juno DS sound a bit better because the technology is just so much better now than it was when the K2000 was released.

you can try a demo !!

http://www.roland.ca/products/sh-2_plug-out/downloads/

the plugins are crazy good. the sh-101, sh-2 and promars are good, if limited. it took like 6 seconds to map it to my novation. much better keys than the system-1 hardware

i haven't f***ed around as much with system-100 as the sh-2 but my initial reaction is its amazing and has much more options.

the mx-1 now has ableton live integration.

as an "electronic musician" i feel i should be more into live. somehow they gave up on using the laptop as an instrument and switched to controllerism which is when i lost interest

it was around 2001 when proem released negativ that me & my friends were having discussions around laptops as instruments, etc.
