So. Regarding the Novation Peak. Chris Huggett is known to throw the old 70s WASP filter in the synths he designs, like the Bass Station. So apparently he tweaked the Wasp filter when he did the Bass Station 2 to sound a bit more 303-like, and then he tweaked it again for the Peak. The BS2 and the Peak therefore probably compliment each other pretty well :)

The oscillators are digital, of course, but the oversampling is above what's been available before, so in theory they should never alias, and Novation calls them "New Oxford Oscillators", obviously a tribute to the Oxford Synthesizer Company (OSC), maker of the OSCar, another synth Chris Huggett was famous for (and which also had the Wasp filter, of course).

All in all, it's the poly synth I'm more excited about... at this point. So what could I sell to get one... :freak:

This will be 'new' again if I succeed in the repair, damage nowhere near as bad as I'd thought it might be when I opened it up, looks like almost none of the soy sauce made it through to the circuit board, dabbed it over with moist white tissue and the spotting was miniscule and nothing actually visible without doing that.

The only silver lining here as that at least with soy sauce, you know when you've got it all out!

The little nipple thingy keyboard contacts were also dabbed over multiple times with a moist white tissue until it was coming off clean, then I went on with 3 rounds of switch cleaner followed by a dry tissue, came off clean each time.

Gonna leave it all overnight to make sure it's proper dried out, then reassemble tomorrow.

Oh, and someone tell Teenage Engineering... no-one likes a smartass:

I wouldn't have minded a heads up on that, as I did email TE for pointers before I went in... also the manual is limited and close to unreadable as it's white on black.

Update anyway... this has worked out much much better than expected, motherboard is absolutely fine, when I started putting the keyboard back together, I did it with it on as it's battery power and there's nothing nasty exposed, the whole top row of contacts for the black keys didn't seem to be working and I wondered if I'd nudged one of the ribbon connectors slightly out.

Tried it out this morning and most of the black keys are working now, apart from the two at the far right and two white notes, otherwise functioning 100%, all control buttons and knobbage working.

I'm wondering if there was a bit of moisture left in the keybed, which I can't get at, which would explain why most of the black notes now work, so going to give it a few days and see if the remaining notes come back on before I mess with it anymore. Also possible I didn't get the mechanism back together perfectly on those, as it's very fiddly and I'm amazed I got everything else spot on.

Definitely getting a carry bag for this once it's sorted...
