Yeah it was before they came out withy the sexy black one. I sometimes wonder if I would have kept it if it didn't look like a school bus. And if people didn't come over and call it a school bus.

It definitely sounded great and the knobs felt good. They were large and has space around them, but it was a little strange. They tried to be different, and I don't think it was a great idea. They put the connections on the left side and I'm not sure why they thought that would be cool. The color wasa dumb choice, and I'll always go back to that menu dive-arp latch thing. Overall the construction was a little cheeep and it was quite HUGE.

I dont think it sounded any better than the KRUNGKRING

Yes.

I <3 that board.

I just wish they'd had the black version available when I bought mine. The champagne color of mine is my least favorite thing about it.

Keep looking for a black one, when you find it, buy and sell the creme one :) (or give it to me, ahaha)

I think they did a black "reissue" because they probably felt like I did about the original - it did not get nearly the attention is deserved.

Well, I would lose money on that deal. But if I had the extra dough to drop on a new black one I would TOTALLY give you the slightly uglier one.

The investment is not that big, if you buy the black one used, just sell the beige for 100 bucks less and voila, you have a black one for a 100 dollar investment or so :) I mean, if the uglier color really bothers you. I don't mind ugly synths myself... as long as they sound good.

Yeah that's because it looked stupid. A surprising amount of synths have this malady

Yea. I'm not actually that shallow. That being said, ALL my boards are black - except the KRIGGLEKRAGGLE. That does set off that bit of my brain that is extremely anal. So does buying used equipment. If I were to ever get a black one, it would have to be brand new. I just don't trust equipment used by rando people I don't know (because who knows what they've touched that keyboard with. likely balls). I would totally buy gear from you guys though, that's different. I still occasionally ponder taking The Honorable EP up on his offer to sell me his slightly broken Juno 106.

Hm.

It's funny too because for ALL THE COMPLAINTS I keep seeing about how ugly the System 8 is, I personally think it's sexy as hell. Definitely the sexiest board I have ever had.

It's true. Teh Sledge is ugly to me, the GAIA (which I was willing to overlook) was ugly as hell. There are several just plain uglies out there, but I lean more towards CR's feelings on it - if it sounds good, I can live with it.

Yes. And, taking Clav's excellent advice on the LED lighting for the studio, the whole place looks like a spaceship now when the S8 is powered up. I do love.

Anyone who thinks the System 8 is ugly should have their synth credentials revoked.

Why is he trying to make his gorgeous S8 look like an ancient Jupiter?!

I was thinking the green light would clash with it. Too bad they didn't use white
