I'm with you; if there's any real typing I need to do, the tablet, or even worse, the phone, is the last place I want to do that. I typed this all in under a minute. On a tablet.... 5 hours? :D

I did not mean to imply that I am of the "desktops are dead" group. I don't think they are, and I think they will live on for quite some time. I just mean to say that, for my own uses at home, I don't need a desktop any longer. Except for music production. And I could get by with a nice lappie, I just prefer not to.

Yeah, tactile feedback matters a heck of a lot.

Even when tiny. It was actually possible to type kind-of-okay with the Blackberry thumbboard. Not 60-70wpm, but at least it wasn't too difficult to actually write competent English. A pity the Blackberry OS sucked etc.

(Blackberry's actually coming out with a last-ditch attempt to make an Android smart phone soon. And... it might be actually worth a look for me. Just because it has their sliding thumb-board. Seriously, I think touch screen keyboards have lowered the IQ of Internet conversation by about 30 or 40 points. )

Not getting all the hate on touchscreen keyboards. I can use them just fine, whether it's on an ipad-sized onE, or my iphone 5s. Are mechanical keyboards better, yes, of course. But that doesn't mean touchscreens suck.

You guys just suck at alternative keyboarding.

Real keyboards, analog sound sources, prism+mirror based cameras, and vacuum tubes. All the old stuff that I love and the newer stuff might eventually take its place, but to me the older technology is still better and more rewarding to use  :smoke:

And that's my story and I'm sticking to it

My biggest regret? Selling my 16-track analog recorder+mixer setup.

It's true, but there are specific reasons.

Namely, ease of use. And I have no computing power.

If you get right down to it, a "hardware" synth that I'm most likely to use is just a VST in a dedicated box. "But Mike, can't you do the same thing on the computer using a VST plugin?"

Yes. But I DONT WANNA.

Wait. What were we talking about, again?
