Pickup Pattern: Omnidirectional
Sensitivity: -22 +/- 3dB (1kHz @ 1Pa)
Frequency Response: 50 - 18,000 Hz

I'm not a mic wizard by any means, but i've been wanting a zoom field recorder for a while, but sony put out a very nice (and free!) recording app for android / ios. What's cool too is I can save right from there to my google drive.

Do you think adding on a mic like this would help, or be any good? I tried recording some rain on my phone and while you could hear it, I wouldn't call the results usable.

I'd be interested to read the reviews. I use my iPhone for field recording ALL the time, and the internal mic isn't actually that bad. But if this would be better, I'd buy one.

I try to avoid things on Amazon that have less than 4 stars review average... 3.5 is close though. It does seem a bit pricey for what it is.

Read some reviews. Probably not a good choice, according to some reviewers, for field recording. Apparently it picks up too much ambient noise. :(

yea knock it off audio murphy

yea, i'll probably just get the zoom.. One key thing in the reviews I read said that so far, you can't control the mic level through apps. :/

I dont know.. apparently we divided by zero somewhere and approached the pun limit at the speed of infinity, or at least clav was trying to pull us back from the brink before it even got started.

And I probabaly just hit the old, old man limit on the audio murphy pun :smoke:

The zoom lets you record with the internal mics, plus a pair with xlr at the same time effectively making it a four track. gives you much power in post.

I bought the sony right before the zoom came out and have always thought about selling mine to get that one.

I'd have to say go with the zoom.

and have a zima while yer at it.

i love puns.

i tell people they pun all the time, and they're all "wat"

it feels like such a waste when one puns, and doesn't even.

Zima died, but in essence these products "came back" as Mike's Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Silver, and the like.

In most other countries, these brands are pretty much liquor diluted with soda and flavoring, like you expect. Here, they're pretty much made with the Zima process in the US for tax / classification reasons, because our alcohol laws are kind of weird. (By "Zima process" I mean: brew a strong "beer", one that has little carbs because they are enzymed out; charcoal filter it til it's nothing but water and alcohol; then add flavoring and sugar etc.)

As long as you don't try and market it like a beer (Zima's undoing, I think), you thrive among the type of crowd that drinks Mike's Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Silver, etc. (Younger people that need a lot of sugar in their alcohol, in essence.)

that doesn't sound right.. I bet you could substitute regular ramune for calpico and it'd be pretty damn close. From what I just read, calpico has a vanilla / condensed milk taste. I don't recall that in zima at all....
