If Sample Modeling or any of the other semi-modeled plugin companies ever comes out with a bassoon (SM already has Awesomely Realish oboes, clarinets, and saxes), Mr. Patel would be even more wrong. Poor Mr. Patel...

I had a skeptic, but I finally listened to some of the Sample Modeling demos. Wow, they have the sax modeling scary close! $350 USD, though... Plus a breath controller might be needed for best articulation.

Crap, now the EWI creeps back towards the top of the GAS list...

Yeah, the forums seem to indicate it also takes a little bit to learn how to "play" the SampleModeling instruments (like you'd expect for anything that sounds half realistic).

Still awesome sounding though. I hadn't heard a synthesizer modeled instrument this realistic since the Yamaha VL-1 days (!).
