So, how is X3?

Will it spark a super-creative new collection of songs?

As I mentioned elsewhere, part of my purpose of messing with that Imperial March track was to try to get a grip on Sonar once and for all. I figured that if, after a week, I still didn't "get it" that I would just chuck it and get something else.

There were definitely a few "WTF HOW DO I CHANGE THIS" moments, but I managed to figure out most of them. I think that, for the most part, I'll keep it. On the other hand, apparently they've gone to this "subscription model" of bleeding me for money and I don't know... Really? UGH.

Anyway: Sonar is OK. Not the easiest to use, but definitely powerful if you can grok it.

I don't do subscription based software, just like I don't do car leases.

These are business models designed to rip off consumers and give greater profits to corporations. No thanks.

Does that mean you'll just keep your current DAW, or does it mean you'll switch?

Ehhhh.... I don't know. Right now, I think I'll stick it out, because it works, I'm (more) familiar with it, and obviously, I already paid for it.

If I HAD to jump ship, though, I don't know where I'd go. Live keeps tempting me, but I dunno. For a more conventional DAW, I don't know what else to look at.

Everybody seems to love Live.

The obvious Sonar replacement, though, would be Cubase, no? But I'm with you, I'd also ride Sonar for a while as long as it's not keeping you from getting things done.

And then there's always Reaper.
