Well, it's my own fault for reading non-work stuff anyway.

Many threads need more hand drawn nipples.

IN the meantime, here are some text ones:

so there's some early benchmarks floating around the net

people are saying its only a 10% increase over the 2010 model, other people are saying thats ok because its only 1 cpu vs 2 in the 2010 mac pro, other people are saying it might be fake, etc

some people are also saying there are future product promotions that advertise the mac pro as having dual cpus. so it might be possible but judging from the information we have from apple it seems unlikely in the first iteration at least.

here's the score from my current mac mini (2.3g i7, late 2012 model)
its 10 941 vs 23 901 for the mac pro.

i've read and recently re-read this thread from a little while back about the computer 'end game'
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-co ... uters.html

it talks about having an intel i7 quadcore and 16g ram and how that might be enough power for the conceivable future. i think its not a matter of how much power do you need as plug-ins are steadily getting harder to run, etc but more a cost/performance ratio

at $800 or so the mac mini only does a little less than half of what the mac pro can do according to this benchmark but as 'revolutionary' and everything that it is, i'm really starting to think for 12 cores, etc its going to be priced way out of everyones range and present little to no value over cheaper i7/16g ram music computers.
