Greg, let me ask you a follow up question.. are the EMU packs actually the presets, or just the samples? or are the presets recreated within dimension?

from memory I think each preset is pretty different, likely it's own sample. I'm not sure if it's purposely recreating the presets in those machines or not. dimention is a pretty straight forward plug-in once you use it a bit so it's pretty easy to further tweak the sounds. I haven't used it in a while tho

I think that's what it is too.. just samples loaded up. I'm thinking I may pick up another Xl1 and XV5050 at some point. There's stuff in there I want, but just for fun.

I've been out of this for so long, I'm not sure where to start again

virus c, that was my desert island synth. I still gas hard over the ti but I'm not sure if all the bugs are ironed out with logic. also, sylenth, massive, poly kb, synthrix, etc get me into range of what I could do with the virus it's just not as immediate as turning knobs

nexus is a good rompler type plug-in but with the cost of expansions it's likely cheaper to go hardware :idk:

I like dune 1 for a lot of what I used to do on the C. Yea I think that ROMplers are still way behind on the vst side of the house. As iv'e said many times, I'd love to see a DSP box with filled with cards that feature whole synths on them. JP8000, Krome or whatever. And pipe that right into your DAW. It'd be a win win.

the integra 7 might be close to what your talking about ?

the editor and librarian are available on mac and usb audio at 24/96 is nice

of the 5080 (?) sounds built in and expansions nothing really strikes my fancy. I have Alicia's keys, the giant, vsl kontakt strings, ewql kontakt orchestra, and likely enuf rando world sounds to satisfy my needs

(I also have a fantom g8 which is a wild rompler in and of itself)

I would be mainly interested in the super natural sounds but I wouldn't pay $1000+ for those

the only keyboard I'm gassing for is a prophet 12 since I already owned a virus. $3000 is pretty steep but I might look for one second hand at some point. I've also never owned anything by dsi altho I almost bought a evolver rack a few years ago :idk:
