Sweet, and in excellent condition as well by the looks of it.

I do miss the sound sometimes though not the v. crude keybed, dunno if things have moved on with upgrades but I could never get mine to pick up velocity from an external controller?

Is the CPU upgrade giving you faster envelopes? The patches do sound a little snappier than I rememer.

The one sound I loved from the P600 that nothing else can do is the crazy stepped filter sweep where the quantised envelope interacts with filter fm... can fake it on current kit by cooking up a quantised envelope on the modular and running it into the cv input of the P6.

The keybed is not at all as bad as I expected it to be. That said, techsmechsvintagesynth, who sells new pro one keybeds, is developing a replacement for the P600 that he says will be like the P6

And yes the new CPU speeds up the envelopes and adds other features including a dedicated vibrato independent of the LFO, and midi sync of the arp

It's in pretty good shape, but I need to clean the slide switches. It was out of tune and the pitch wheel didn't do anything in the negative range, but both of those issues disappeared with the new CPU

I'm gonna guess the sequener now plays back at the same speed you record at?

BTW I'm totally up for suggestions as for what sort of effects might work well with the AY3?

It really doesn't seem to agree with much, not sure why, reverb hardly seems to touch it and even the little bit of spring I've used in the vid takes something away and adds a fuzzier high end.

Chorus just turns it muddy and takes all the AY3ness out of it, still need to try the tube phase and talking machine but think both will be too much, tube phaser disagrees with the P6 as it takes away the brittle high end... maybe I'll try a rotary on the Lexicon and see how it handles.

Yeah, it's basically got two chips in them from this family of chips that powered a ton of arcade games etc. back in the day. Neat.

Can anyone peg what this guy is playing under the white faced Odyssey?

Struggling to think of many synths of that era that had all the knobbage crammed on one end in a Nord like layout?

Chip manual here.

It's a pity the front end is so faffy, this thing would really benefit from a software editor.

Main thing this can do that many synths can't is having a different patch on each voice, I need to play around with that more.

Thanks to the Wikipedia entry on Dave Formula, I'm pretty sure that this is the Yamaha SS30 string synthesizer (admittedly not a string synth I'm too familiar with!)
