when you wire up your electric, use the screws on the outlets; Don't just strip and poke the wires into the "grabby" holes on the back. You want solid electrical connections, or you risk the wrath of hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

In fact, I need to redo the boxes in my studio, I have a hum that I had to solve by running an extension cord from one of my Rokit speakers to where everything else is powered from.

Good to know!

I thought a bout locating a furnman at each item or sets of item.. desk, keyboard stand. Quad outlets for convenience. Not on teh baby! I dont think he'd normally be allowed out there.. it'd be a grown ups only or supervised thing.

Yeah I'll have to look into carpet too.

That doesn't jive with my common sense. Why is that?

:idk: It really depends on the acoustical transparency. I know nothing about this one.. however, common sense would dictate..

I just wondered because that eggshell mattress cover thing I'm talking about is textured much like "professional" foam wall treatment, and is in fact foam as well. Probably not as dense as actual wall treatment, but you'd think it'd give close to the same effect.

It's not nearly dense enough

The problem with something being foam texture is that, foam is useless as well :)

And yes Metro did tell us about teh baby. Here's praying it all goes well and he's healthy and your wife also goes through it with no major issues, Chris :)

First of all, use this calculator to determine the room dimensions.

Use this website to refresh yourself on another particular matter in which you seem to need reminding...

i recommend building "bass traps". i designed super simple ones in a different thread, based off a threat from gs or something

i used 3" safe n sound i think (acoustical wall insulation). the recommendation is to go much thicker in corners, etc. i found for vocal recordings it really dampens the horrible sound of my untreated tiny room lol

my biggest concern with the roxul insulation was air quality. it could be the red velour material i used (?) but so far i haven't noticed any change.

i spent a long time researching foam materials. there are acoustical ones online that aren't super expensive but they have to be thick enough like 1-2 inches will only affect high frequencies.

Yeah, it's all innocent when they just mean to tickle the ivories a little.

Next thing you know, a minor key shows up.
