State of the dis-union!

Hey synthheads! Just a short “what-up” from me about what’s going on with the site.

And I’m here to report that mainly, all is well and I couldn’t ask for more :) But one of my goals here has always been to focus more on original content and make it more into a “guide” as the site name implies rather than a daily blog of re-posted content. So I have next week off for spring break and I think that’s an ideal time to spend some time rewriting some articles and moving things around a bit to neaten it up and make it easier to find.

How exactly I’m going to do that, I don’t know! So don’t be surprised if you see things moving around on the front page. But for those of you that read the blog via RSS, facebook or twitter, you won’t really notice any change.

So stay tuned and if you’ve got two saws, ya might as well detune ’em!

Computer Music, Radio?

I’ve been kicking this idea around for a while and I always thought it would be fun to run a shoucast radio server for the music our community produces. I had a lot of fun being a college radio DJ and I always wanted another go at the experience.

Essentially, if it gets off the ground, how it would work is that you would either snail mail or e mail me your MP3s (original compositions, royalty or licensing free please) and and the all I would have to do is load them on the server and you click the streaming link on my blog or you could listen to it over one of the many apps that can browse shout cast servers that are out there.

Depending on the interest and load, there’s a few ways I could do this. I could do all day, random music, have separate streams for genres and even, as one friend suggested, allow people to have their own synth based podcasts. Because hey, if you can get it into MP3, I can play it.

Anyway, since this is designed to compliment, as well as promote our synth community here on the intertubes, I need your input! So please, spend just a couple seconds and leave me a comment and let me know if you’d like to participate by sending in some music, or if the idea of a podcast would appeal to you, or even chime in with your own suggestion!

So come on, give a shot! I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
